Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer ACE Exam Tips

Preparation tips for the Google Associate Cloud Engineer exam. Covers key topics, hands-on practice, and study resources.

ACE Exam Overview

The Google Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE) certification validates your ability to deploy applications, monitor operations, and manage enterprise solutions on Google Cloud. The exam has approximately 50 questions, a 120-minute time limit, and requires a 70% passing score. Google recommends 6+ months of hands-on experience with GCP.

Critical Skills to Master

The exam tests practical skills: setting up a cloud environment, planning and configuring resources, deploying and implementing solutions, operating and managing resources, and configuring access and security. You need hands-on experience with the GCP Console, Cloud Shell, and gcloud CLI.

Most Important Topics

Focus heavily on: Compute Engine (creating, configuring, and managing VMs), Google Kubernetes Engine (deploying and managing clusters), Cloud IAM (roles, service accounts, organization policies), VPC networking (subnets, firewall rules, load balancing), Cloud Storage (classes, lifecycle management), Cloud SQL and BigQuery basics, and Stackdriver/Cloud Operations for monitoring and logging.

Hands-On Labs

Practice these specific tasks: creating a VPC with custom subnets and firewall rules, deploying a web application on Compute Engine, setting up a GKE cluster and deploying a containerized app, configuring IAM roles and service accounts, setting up Cloud Monitoring alerts, and using gcloud commands for resource management.
